Paper and Sculpey Christmas Ornament and a Get Well Card

Good Saturday morning,

Trials and tributions today.  With my computer ... it's driving me crazy.  I'll pull up a picture to edit it as they are usually too dark.  And boom!  Down my computer goes without any warning.  That is puzzling to me, as I just bought a brand new computer this year.

Thank heavens my husband is a techie, and he comes up (from his cave, downstairs), and looks it over.  I'm hoping it's fixed now.

It started a few weeks ago, but today, it will let me work about an hour, and then down it goes.

My husband thinks he's got the problem fixed.

It looks like blogger posted my items out of order.  It figures.  (I hope my whole day is NOT going to be like this.)

The first creation today is a card I made yesterday.  It's going to be a get well card for a friend that just underwent surgery.  It in all black and white.  The backing behind the quilled flower looks gray in this picture, but that's because it has shine to it.  It's actually much more black.

I like all black and white cards, as well as many of my sculpeys.  This picture shows two of my heart sculpeys.  I love to do hearts.

I made all the paper for this creation and all the designs I've used on it so far.  It is an unfinished project right now, but will be done very soon.

In an earlier post, when I first started out this morning, I mentioned I'd made an ornament.  Here is a picture showing it.

It started with two flower designs under the heart that is showing.  I cut out two and glued them together, leaving room to sneak a little stuffing inside.  This caused it to bulk up and then I finished gluing it together.

I then punched a hole in the bottom and strung some yarn through it and tied it.  I glue along the edges and pressed the yarn along till I got to the top.  I let it dry and tied it .  I made a bow and loop for hanging on the tree.  And then, I tied it off.

I put a pearl string/glued again/around the sculpey heart.  At the top, I wounds some yarn in a circular fashion to decorate the heart.  The heart has a quilled circle under it, which is glued to a red paper base.  Another quilled circle attaches it to the ornament.  This gives it lot of dimension.

And that is the front.

Here is a close up of the sculpey heart on the front.

This is the back of the card.  I did not make the sticker, but layered it onto a white card stock base, used a quilling circle to give it dimension underneath, and glued that to another red paper card.  Another quilling circle is underneath that.  When you look it it from the sides, you can see how it spreads out.

This was supposed to be the FIRST picture of my get well card.  Alas, it is the last.  Oh well.

It is not finished yet, but thought I'd post it, as it was one of my creations yesterday.  I'm waiting for my muse to help me finish it.

Have a great day!

Sat 12/12/09 Sammy The Cat-Inspiration to Finished Creation

Good morning,

I really enjoy creating when I have more time in the mornings.

Today, I thought I'd share how many of my creations come into being.

This is in honor of Sammy (my cat), who walked out my door just five weeks ago now. I had him for about 5 years.

Sammy never came back. What happened to him, I'll probably never know.

My husband doesn't like cats, but even he had to say, "For a cat ... he's pretty great!" (He's a dog lover.)

This is kind of a mini tutorial just showing you the progression of Sammy The Cat!

Sammy The Cat started from the first picture at the very top, left. This little creature was in a kaleidoscope I did. I copied just that portion of the kalei, and pasted him into a new image. I then started a separate image, using this for comparison, and started shaping what I wanted from it.

You can see each step. I worked my way down to his neck, and found another kalei I liked for the collar around Sammy's neck. And because it's Christmas, I thought I'd make him holding a card that he needs to get in the mail.

When I create, I usually create in this manner. Sammy The Cat is on my website today. He's much bigger! Since my website was created to feature 3 new free graphics each day, he will only be up today. By early morning tomorrow ... he and the other 2 creations will be history. Snag my daily creations as they happen.

I'm rather pleased with Sammy The Cat. I hope you'll grab him, and put him in some wonderful creation of your own.

I have a very busy weekend ahead, and a busy week next week. As of Friday, 12/18, I am off till January 4th, 2010. I hope to get a lot of creating done during that time, as well as get my tiny home office organized.

And, of course, I still need to get my cards out ... for work and home ... as well as finish Christmas shopping.

Have a great day! See you tomorrow.

Exploring Thru Art - Art Kit Pak 3

Good morning,

This creation to the right is one I did for my Eons group posting.

I liked it a lot, so thought I'd post it here as well.

The object is, of course, a kalei.

I was going to post it yesterday, but after posting my first offering, was not able to connect again to my blog. The fun of the internet!!!

I often keep pictures from magazines around for ideas. Colors I like together. Some cute animal. Pictures my granddaughter drew. I have so many that it can cause quite a clutter.

I've heard some say that the way to reduce clutter of these types of things is to put them all together on a refigerator door or wall, and take a picture. You can store the pictures on your computer or put them on a CD.

Today, I read another one in a popular woman's magazine. Put them on a coffee mug or on a mouse pad by uploading the images to shutterfly.com. Now. That sounds like a plan.

The is another art kit pak. It's numbered #3, as the one yesterday was. Somehow when I started these, I did 2 sets naming them both 3. Fortunately, one 3 pak had 8 items and was included in the title to save, and the other ad 11. So, I lost none of the paks, but it makes it hard to know which one is which except that I know one is 8 and the other is 11 items.

Even though the one posted yesterday says 3, it is # 2b. This one is 3.

Today is President's Day, so I have a day off. Lots to do today that I didn't do yesterday. My poor husband is off to work today as usual.

The weekend was granddaughter-free. I missed her smiling face, but I'm sure she'll be back next weekend.

Hope your weekend was great.

Have a good Monday. See you soon.
